Summary0003278: Support for decentralized bugreporting - Replication
Description

Mantis should have support for decentralized bugreporting. It would be a nice feature, if you could collect bugs on your laptop while you're not on LAN and mirror them to a central mantis-Server when you're back.

Supporting replication in general is a huge task. I am not sure if you mean here supporting queuing of new reported bugs that are ready to be submitted to the server, or you mean full replication support?

There is another feature request about the ability to have an alternate method (than the web) to report bugs. If this is done, then this will make the implementation of this feature easier. This is because one of the possible clients can be another offline web application which only needs to connect to delivered the queued bugs.

In my opinion, Mantis development team will probably provide the tools to submit bugs via means other than the web, but I can not see that we will be providing replication.

Sorry for my bad english but I mean the following task:

We have a central mantis-Server in out network, which is used for the tracking of errors in our software. Sometimes consultants visit customers and discuss new feature-requests or bugs with them. Due to the fact, that every consultant has his own webserver on his laptop, it would be nice, if they could acquire the bugs at the client and transfer them to the main mantis server when they are back again. Moreover it would be nice, if the reports could be updated with the comments, the status etc. from the developers and transfered back to the consultant's laptop, so that he can take it to client the next time.

I would be happy, if I could connect different mantis systems like I can see a single ToDo list for all the mantis servers. Yes I have to use different servers, because I have one for my own and some clients use mantis too. It would be great if I can do both DBs in one interface. Shouldn't be impossible.

Mantis has a SOAP api for extracting information from the database.

I guess someone could implement a rich client to support some form of delayed reporting, but it's not something that would be implemented within mantis.

If someone was to take on this task, and needed some changes to the php to support doing this, then we might be able to look at whether we can add those features.
